The Noosa Festival of Surfing will welcome a new event to its iconic week-long schedule.

An invitational ‘Switch’ division will be introduced, for riders to compete on a long board and a short board within the same heats.

The competition’s 12 invitees and four wild cards will be able choose how long they stay on each board, with their best wave score from each to be tallied.

All competitors will use the same boards, offering no advantage in equipment choice.

Gordon & Smith Australia will present the inaugural G&S ‘Switch’, to be held during the festival, which runs from March 4-11.

Founded in 1959 by Larry Gordon and Floyd Smith in San Diego, California, Gordon & Smith became an iconic brand, reflected via inspirational surfing from Skip Frye, Mike Hynson and Midget Farrelly.

In 1966, G&S found a home in Australia, remaining at the forefront of surfboard design and more recently represented by Jye Byrnes and Dane Wilson.
