A female truck driver has been left fighting for her life after she was hit by a car off the Ipswich Motorway on Monday afternoon.
A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said the truck driver was at the rear of her vehicle when the car hit her, before it crashed into the rear of the truck about 12.40pm.
The incident happened on the Warrego Highway off-ramp, causing heavy traffic delays after the left lane and part of the right lane were blocked. By 2pm, congestion stretched back five kilometres to Goodna.
The truck driver was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.
The car driver, a woman in her 20s, was cut from the wreckage and also taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital, in a stable condition with serious injuries.
Motorists were being diverted down the Cunningham Highway. A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said there were injuries to passengers travelling in the car.
Motorists were being asked to avoid the area and the Forensic Crash Unit had been called to attend.
