The body of a missing man has been found on the edge of a Far North Queensland beauty spot after police renewed search efforts over the weekend.

The body of a missing man has been found on the edge of the Daintree River at Cape Tribulation in Far North Queensland.

Police say the man was fishing near the Creb Track yesterday afternoon, and they were contacted when his belongings were found at the river’s edge, reported the Cairns Post.

Detectives at the scene said the elderly man had an existing medical condition and there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Police renewed search efforts on Sunday with help from a helicopter and several boats.

There was no sign of a crocodile attack despite earlier fears.
