Police were called to Brothers St Brendan’s Football Club on Beaudesert Rd, near Tramore St, Rocklea, following an altercation between two men about 9pm.

It is believed the man got into an argument inside the club before continuing the fight outside.

A man in his 30s died at the scene after being stabbed in the neck, police said. No charges have yet been laid.

Friends have begun paying tribute to the man, describing him as a “stand up bloke”.

“RIP my man,” one wrote. “May the angels above greet you with a drink … love you so much, my heart is so heavy right now.

“I am so proud of you for trying to be the better man.”

Another man was located nearby on Blackwood St and was treated by paramedics for injuries to his hand, face and shoulder.

He was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition. He is due to undergo surgery on Saturday.

The pair were known to each other, a Queensland Police spokeswoman said.

A crime scene has been declared at both locations and police are investigating.
