A driver accused of slamming his car into a Queensland police officer will remain behind bars on a charge of attempted murder.

Police tried to pull over Michael John Purcell in Morningside on Friday night.

The 25-year-old allegedly changed lanes and drove into an officer before colliding with a power pole.

The officer suffered a broken leg.
