The man who murdered Queensland schoolboy Daniel Morcombe, Brett Peter Cowan, has been stabbed by a fellow prisoner.
“A prisoner suffered superficial wounds to his neck and ear when he was assaulted by another prisoner in a common area of… Wolston Correctional Centre,” Queensland Corrective Services said on Friday.
“Officers brought the situation quickly under control. The prisoner did not sustain any serious injury.”
It’s the second time a fellow prisoner has attacked Cowan at the centre, where he’s serving a life sentence for abducting and murdering 13-year-old Daniel on the Sunshine Coast in 2003.
In August 2016, a fellow prisoner tipped a bucket of boiling water on him.
Friday’s attack on Cowan has been referred to the Queensland Police Corrective Services Investigation Unit.
More to come.
