A five-year-old boy is in a critical condition in hospital after he was shot by another child in an incident west of Brisbane.
Police confirmed they are investigating the shooting which took place about 4pm on Tuesday on Granite Belt Drive at Cottonvale, near Stanthorpe.
A spokeswoman from Lady Cilento Hospital told the Warwick Daily News the boy was in a critical but stable condition.
It’s believed the boy was shot with a rifle in the face by the other child, reportedly his older cousin, at a Cottonvale property near Stanthorpe after 4pm on Tuesday.
Police say he was accidentally shot by an 11-year-old boy who was known to him.
They have declined to provide further details on the incident.
