Man to hospital after landing on sharp object on Gold Coast worksite

Paramedics have been kept busy this morning.

A MAN has been taken to hospital after falling during a workplace accident and landing on a sharp object.

The man is believed to have landed on his abdomen at a worksite at Welby Street, Broadbeach Waters and he was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Meanwhile, paramedics have responded to a number of traffic incidents in the early hours of this morning.

At 12.40am a car crashed into a light pole on Neilsons Road and Birmingham Drive in Carrara.

A woman was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition after hitting her head on the steering wheel.

Police are expected to take a blood alcohol and drug reading as part of routine procedures.

Later, at 4am one person was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital after colliding with a lamp post and knocking it to the ground.

The incident happened on Bundall Road in Surfers Paradise.

And at 8am this morning a car drove 5m down an embankment before crashing into trees at Wongawallan.

The female driver, aged in her 40s, managed to free herself from the car and was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition with back pain.
